- Filtration: The better the filtering qualities of your pool, the cleaner and clearer your water will be. The cleaner your water, the less chemicals you'll need to fight murky water and save yourself chemical dollars. Be sure to keep your filter, pump, lint trap and skimmer baskets clean and in proper working condition. Run your pump and filter per manufacturer's recommendations.
- pH Level: Test your water's pH every couple of days. If necessary, add RAM pH PLUS® or RAM pH MINUS® to adjust pH and maintain the ideal range of 7.4 to 7.6 ppm.
- Chlorine: Test chlorine level every couple of days and maintain a chlorine residual of 1.5 to 3.0 ppm of Free Chlorine. Use Ram 1" or 3" Tablets in an automatic or floating chlorinator. Maintain a stabilizer (Cyanuric Acid) reading of 30 to 80 ppm to prolong chlorine life.
- Total Alkalinity/Hardness: At least every month, test your Total Alkalinity and Calcium Hardness levels in your water. Ask your Local pool dealer for the proper levels to maintain in your pool depending on whether your pool is made of plaster, vinyl, fiberglass or is painted. If adjustment is needed, use RAM ALKALINTY CONTROL® or RAM HARDNESS CONTROL®.
- Algaecides: Algaecides should be used weekly to help chlorine combat and kill algae spores as they enter your pool. The regular use of RAM POLY ALGAECIDE® or RAM MUSTARD OUT 60® will ensure that your pool water will remain algae free.
- Shock: Shock your pool weekly or after heavy swimmer loads during the hot summer months to burn out any contaminants from swimmers or heavy rains. Granular Shock in the form of RAM LITHO SHOCK® or RAM CLEAROX® will ensure contaminate free, sparkling clear pool water. Shock every two weeks during the cooler months when pool is not in use.
- Maintenance: Maintain water clarity with the use of RAM SPARKLING BLUE®, RAM CLEARFLOC® and RAM METAL HOLD® to remove all the impurities that can cloud your pool water. Bring water into your professional dealer for testing.
