HOW TO MAKE YOUR POOL MORE ENERGY-EFFICIENT EASY TIPS BY THE EXPERTS AT WAREHOUSE POOL SUPPLY

INTERMATIC TIME CLOCKS -
Helps save time and money by allowing the pool owner to set designated daily times to run the pool pump. This will help maintain a balanced system by giving the proper running time for water turnover & efficiency.

PUMP RUNNING TIME -
The pump must circulate a residential pool 2 times turnover within 8 hours daily. With proper filtration and water balance, the pool pump will run more efficiently at night between the hours of 10 PM to 6 AM. (Additional pump running time may be needed in the spring / summer from 10 am to 4 pm during peak exposure to the sun and heat.)

COST SAVINGS -
If you operate your *1hp pump 24 hours a day, your monthly electric cost at .097 per kwh is $115.28. If you reduce the run time to 8 hours per day, your monthly electric cost would be $38.40. *Based on a 220 volt motor at 7.2 amps, sf @ 1.4 (full rated motor). Costs may vary depending on up-rated & full-rated motors.

EQUIPMENT SIZE CHART -
See your local Warehouse Pool Supply for a free consultation on sizing up your pool equipment. Knowing the pump horsepower, filter type and size, and gallons of pool water can help pool owners calculate the proper equipment and time of operation. This is an important step into making your pool energy-efficient. ( Length x Width x Avg Depth x 7.5 = Gallons) (Round Pools - radius squared x 3.14 x Avg Depth x 7.5 = Gallons)

MAINTENANCE -
Keep your pool filter clean by backwashing weekly for sand filters, clean cartridge filters weekly, clean d.e. filters each month. Be sure to clean skimmers and pump strainer baskets weekly to prevent clogging of water flow to the pump. The result? Premature motor failure and high energy bills.

POOL CLEANING -
Be sure the pool is vacuumed each week to rid of any dirt & debris. Brush & skim weekly. Automatic pool cleaners can be added to help keep the pool clean, however they need routine check-ups by your pool dealer to keep them operating efficiently.

AUTOMATIC CHLORINATORS -
Helps keep a daily chlorine residual by distributing chlorine into your pool. The amount of chlorine use can be controlled by a valve on the chlorinator. This will save and reduce the chemical usage daily. The rainbow automatic chlorine feeder uses 3" or 1" stabilized chlorine tablets only.

CHEMICAL WATER BALANCE -
The water balance of your pool is one of the most important aspects in cost of operation. It is very important for the pool owner to test and balance the pool water every week. Testing with a basic 4 test kit can help keep water balance in control. Chlorine, pH & Alkalinity are the 3 levels a pool owner should maintain on a weekly basis. Visit your local Warehouse Pool Supply for test kits, solutions, supplies & chemicals.

COMPUTER WATER ANALYSIS -
Be sure to have your local Warehouse Pool Supply conduct a Water Analysis. This service is FREE to all customers and only takes a short time. Results? A computer generated water analysis will give the pool owner ultimate control and savings. Be sure to have your pool lab-tested every 2 to 3 months to ensure ideal levels. Additional lab-tests offered are Salt, Phosphate, Nitrate.

IDEAL LEVELS - Based on a White Plaster Pool. Chlorine (free) 1.0 - 3.0, Chlorine (total) 1.0 - 3.0 Combined Available Chlorine (CAC) .0 pH 7.4 - 7.6 Alkalinity 80 - 100 / 100 - 120 Hardness 200 - 400 Stabilizer 30 - 100 TDS (total dissolve solids) up to 1000 Copper & Iron .0 (for pools w/ out Mineral Purifier)

Ideal Water Hardness -
Levels vary depending upon pool surface type & geographical area.

Vinyl Pools - (Adjusted Ideal Ranges) Alkalinity - 120 PPM, Hardness - 150 PPM (Min)

POOL SAFETY -
Since water is known to be a great conductor of electrical current, great care should be taken anytime you are working near your pool. Keep all electrical cords and appliances far away from your pool. ALL POOLS must have a *(GFCI) installed on all electrical circuits serving your pool equipment by a licensed electrical contractor. *(gfci, ground fault circuit interrupter)

OTHER TIPS TO FOLLOW -
It is best to have a qualified pool tech conduct any service needed on your pool & spa heater.
